PDF format preserves the formatting I intended.
Epub is reflowable text and can be read using something like Calibre ebook reader or loaded onto a dedicated ebook reader device. This destroys the formatting I intended, but it’s more flexible to suite your preferences.
FAQ
Q: Why isn’t the book available in a physical format?
A: It’s too large in terms of page count, so Amazon will not print it. If I can find a printing service that’s up to the task I’ll go that route. The print ready version is formatted differently than the Kindle version, and comes out to around 1182 or so pages. But if you know anyone you’d recommend, please send me an email as I believe physical copies of anything are essential.
You will own everything, and you will be happy.
The ebook is free but I’ll have to charge for the physical copies because paper and ink isn’t free.
Q: If it’s too large to be printed, why not split it into two books?
A: The book from start to finish is one complete story, and while there are points where I could cut it in half it wouldn’t be right.
The book is the size it is, because that’s the story I want to tell. I will not cut anything, nor will I trim it down if I feel that it compromises the work.
In addition, I don’t want to charge people twice for one book in a series. You pay once (or pirate it, whatever) and you get the whole thing from beginning to end.
Also that’d require getting another book cover painted, and that’s a lot of additional time (3+ months) and money that I don’t have at the moment.
Q: If you printed that book and threw it at someone, it’d likely kill them. Is there an audio book version?
A: There will be, but as I can’t afford to hire someone to make that I’ll have to do it all myself. That’s gonna take a minute or two, but I do want to make a listenable version.
